Alternative London Travel Tips For The Gay, Lesbian And Goth Communities

London is one of the world's top tourist destinations. It is easy to understand why this is when you consider the many things that the city has to offer. Not only is London rich with history but it is also a bustling city that rivals any other in the world for entertainment and culture opportunities.

The great thing about a city the size of London is that it has something for everyone. Most travel guides feature the kind of places that members of the mainstream society would like to see. They ignore the many people of so called 'alternative communities' and leave out destinations that would be of interest to these communities.

Here at Alternative London Travel Tips we have put our personal experience of London to use and put together lists of our favourite destinations in the city. In particular these are destinations that would be of interest to members of the gay and lesbian community and also to the gothic communities.

Alternative Guide To London

Soho: The home base for any alternative lifestyles tour of London would have to be Soho. I have long believed that, if forced, the 'weird' amongst us could spend a lifetime confined to the streets of Soho and never get bored.

For starters, Soho is very widely known as a place only suitable for adults. As a result there are very few children on the streets. Once the sun goes down this is especially true. It is actually a bit of a weird feeling because all of the streets that border Soho are rich in wholesome family entertainment. So, Soho is like an oasis for those of us who would rather be kiddie free.

Outside Soho: Outside of Soho there is still of richness of things to attract alternative audiences. The Camden Town area may be the runner up to Soho for being the area in London that is most open to alternative lifestyles. However, other areas also offer hidden treasures that would be of internest to many.
